skills of emtional success

Time for a change?

If you’re going to be more emotionally successful, chances are you’re going to have to change a few things.

Firstly, you’ll need to consider the way you’re currently living your life and then make a list of the things the ‘perfect’ you would be doing. You should include things that will impact your life both emotionally and physically.

Sometimes admitting to yourself that your current path is restricting your happiness, is a difficult thing to do, but embracing the truth is the first step to putting it right. A good starting point would be to read the post ‘Why Being Unhappy is Your Fault‘.

It’s also quite likely you’ll need to change the way you think about things.

Think about your reactions to certain situations; are you positive about most things, or do you tend to always see the downside? You might need to work on listening out for the positive things in a situation and not always feeling that the world is against you all the time.

Try not to let others get you down. If you’re constantly worried what other people say, or think about you then you’ll never be able to move on and do what you want to.

Whenever an opportunity arises, sit down for a few minutes and asses it using the ‘Rocking Chair Test‘. When people are looking back over their lives, they never regret the things they did (unless of course it was illegal!), but almost everyone regrets the things they didn’t do.

Why should I bother?

Don’t live your life for other people. Worry about your own emotional happiness and do the things that bring pleasure to you. If you’re happy around other people, that emotion will rub off on them, so everyone wins.

So, go out there now and do all the things you’ve dreamed about doing. Being emotionally happy and fulfilled means that you’re exercising your right to have fun and do what you’ve always wanted to do. You should be concentrating on what makes you happy and how you want to live your life.

Take a leap of faith and do the things that you always wanted to try. You’ll find you’re going to be happier emotionally and physically.

Always live your life to the fullest each and every day. Don’t let anything pass you by. If you’ve always wanted to try something, but you’ve always stopped short, there’s nothing stopping you except your fear. So, think about all the things that make you feel good about yourself, then get out there and use your abilities to make them happen.

Try to help others feel good too. When you’re able to show someone else how to live life to the fullest, you’re going to feel good about yourself. This’ll help you realise that you’re doing something for the sake of others which in turn will give you the emotional boost that you’re looking for.

It’s definitely going to be worth the time and the effort, for you to take a chance and make someone feel great about themselves.

Also, spend a few minutes every day allowing yourself to be thankful for what you already have in your life. It doesn’t matter what it is; it could be having a loving family, a nice house to live in, being in good health, or even being in better health than a lot of other people in this world.

There’s always something to be grateful for, the trouble is we spend so much time looking at the bad things in life, we never take the time to be grateful for the good stuff!

Make a start right now! You won’t regret it 🙂
